About the Artist
Cinzia Milani is an acclaimed Italian classical guitarist whose musical career began at an exceptionally young age. She studied classical guitar privately before graduating from the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito in Parma at just 18 years old. Her artistic development was guided by distinguished teachers including Mauro Storti and Argentine composer Oscar Roberto Casares.
A child prodigy, Milani won an international competition in Milan at age five, received the prestigious Ambrogino d’Oro at age seven, and won the Trofeo Beniamino Gigli at age ten with a perfect score. By age fourteen, she had accumulated sixteen first prizes in national and international competitions. In 1991, she received the Premio F. Margola in Parma.
Milani began her concert career at age twelve and has since performed extensively throughout Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Asia. Her artistry has been praised by both British and American critics for its technical brilliance, expressive power, and musical depth.
Her recording career includes broadcasts for RAI Radio 2 and collaborations with composer A. Prandi. She has released several notable albums, including Ritratto di Donna, Sonatango, Guitar, and a celebrated series dedicated to pioneering female guitarists. These include A Tribute to Ida Presti, A Tribute to Teresa De Rogatis, and A Tribute to Maria Luisa Anido. Her recording of Danse Rythmique by Ida Presti was selected as a “Video Pick of the Week” by Classical Guitar Magazine.
Beyond performing, Milani has taught masterclasses at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and created the multidisciplinary production Venere, combining original music with dance. She is also recognized for her research and recordings that revive the works of overlooked women composers and guitarists, earning praise for bringing forgotten musical heritage to contemporary audiences.
In addition to guitar, Milani is an accomplished violinist who has performed with orchestras in Italy, Spain, and France, and serves as an artist ambassador for Royal Classics Strings and Bam cases.
