Welcome to the 2025-26 season of the Guitar Society of Toronto – it’s our 70th anniversary!
We are excited to be welcoming some wonderful Canadian and international artists to our concert stage, many of whom will be making their Toronto debuts.
The Ottawa Guitar Trio kicks things off in September; they are followed by the phenomenal French guitarist Gaëlle Solal in October and GFA winner Leonela Alejandro from Puerto Rico in November. January will feature Italian guitarist Carlotta Dalia. The Quebec ensemble L’Atelier Romantique will perform their Schubert and Paganini program in February, followed by local sensation Drew Henderson in March.
April will feature the twelfth version of our very popular Toronto Guitar Weekend – a wonderful opportunity to spend a few days of total immersion in guitar! This year we are thrilled to feature the return of Grammy winner David Russell. He will be here to help us celebrate our 70th anniversary season, and events will focus on the history of classical guitar in Toronto, Canada and the world. This promises to be another fun and educational weekend, with lectures, luthier fair, master class, and open mic, as well as the tremendously popular Brunch with the Artists. Stay tuned for more details!
Our other activities include presenting classical guitar performances in schools, and more recently, in retirement homes as well – made possible with the generous support of our donors. We have renewed our focus on commissioning new music, and continue to support guitar students with scholarships. Our community guitar orchestra allows guitarists of all ages and levels to learn and perform in an ensemble setting, and our Members’ open mics are an opportunity to listen or perform in a relaxed atmosphere with friends. Explore our web site for information about all of these.
As you know, we are a not-for-profit organization, and depend on the generous support of our donors, sponsors and volunteers. We are so grateful; we could not do what we do without them!
I hope you will consider becoming involved, as a member, donor, or volunteer. Check out the Membership and Donor pages on the web site, and don’t hesitate to contact us – we want to hear from you!
It is my honour to be entering my eleventh year as President of this wonderful organization, one of the oldest and most respected guitar societies in the world. Let’s make this season another one to remember…I look forward to seeing you at the concerts!
