Welcome to the 2024-25 season of the Guitar Society of Toronto!

We are excited to welcome many wonderful Canadian and international artists to our concert stage, most of whom will be making their Toronto debuts.

Tariq Harb launches our season in September, followed by soloists András Csáki of Hungary, and GFA winner Marko Topchii from Ukraine. Ensemble concerts will fill out the remainder of the season; a tribute to Piazzolla by guitar-cello duo Christ Habib and Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy; a very welcome return of SoloDuo who were last in Toronto in 2015, and the Mela Quartet, who won last year’s ensemble competition at the GFA.

April will feature the eleventh version of our very popular Toronto Guitar Weekend – a wonderful opportunity to spend a few days of total immersion in guitar! This year we are thrilled to welcome back Argentinian guitarists Maximo Diego Pujol and Victor Villadangos, performing both as a duo and as soloists. This promises to be another fun and educational weekend, with lectures, luthier fair, master class, and open mic, as well as the tremendously popular Brunch with the Artists.

We’re very proud that our program of outreach concerts in schools and retirement homes– launched with support from the Kenneth G. Mills Foundation, and ongoing support from our donors – is growing!    We’re also moving ahead with commissioning an exciting new music project — stay tuned for more details.  We continue to support guitar students with scholarships, and create performance and learning opportunities through our community guitar orchestra and our Café Concert series of open mic evenings.  Explore our web site for information about all of these.

As you know, we are a not-for-profit organization, and depend on the generous support of our donors, sponsors and volunteers. We are so grateful; we could not do what we do without them!

It is my honour to be entering my tenth year as President of this wonderful organization, one of the oldest and most respected guitar societies in the world. I hope you will consider becoming involved, as a member, donor, or volunteer.   Check out the Membership and Donor pages on the web site, and don’t hesitate to contact us – we want to hear from you!

Let’s make this season another one to remember…I look forward to seeing you at the concerts!

Heather Morand Clark,
President
